Enantioselective synthesis of fluorinated alpha-amino acids and derivatives in combination with ring-closing metathesis: intramolecular pi-stacking i…
2001
[reaction: see text]. Hydride reduction of C=N bonds stereocontrolled by intramolecular pi-stacking interactions of 1-naphthylsulfinyl and N-aryl groups, nonoxidative Pummerer rearrangement, and ring-closing metathesis are efficiently combined in a highly stereoselective entry to enantiomerically pure cyclic and acyclic fluorinated beta-amino alcohols and alpha-amino acid derivatives, respectively.
Sulfur-incorporating cyclotriveratrylene analogues: the synthesis of cyclotrithioguaiacylene.
2011
Cyclotriguaiacylene 1 is the universal precursor of cryptophanes, and represents an important intermediate for the preparation of functionalized cavitands of the cyclotriveratrylene family. Its thio analogue (cyclotrithioguaiacylene 3) was synthesized by two different routes, involving either the Newman-Kwart or the Pummerer rearrangement. The latter, performed starting from a trisulfoxide precursor, produced a purer compound in higher overall yield.
Preparation of 4-substituted 1,3-oxathiolan-5-onesviathe sulphenium ion intermediate generated by the pummerer rearrangement
1993
4-Substituted 1,3-oxathiolan-5-ones have been synthesized via the Pummerer rearrangement from the S-oxide of the parent molecule. The 4,5-dione is obtained in the presence of pyridine N-oxide.
